Cold and Wet

I think this piece reflects how the weather is today. Cold and morose. I'm in Plymouth at Kate's house, where I'll be staying for a while, and making trips to the city when I can. I hope you are all keeping warm on this frigid day.

Modus Lotus

I went to Modus Lotus last night, The pop art show in worcester at the Aurora Gallery. I just wanna say that it was AWESOME. There was such a variety of work and I am honored that I was asked to be in it. There was a great turn out and I saw all kinds of nice folk that I haven't seen for a while. I especially liked all of the vintage original comic book pages, but the whole show really was amazing.

note: my girlfriend Kate liked Veronica's Carousel pieces A LOT.

some experiments

I'm back in boston for a while, and have access to a scanner. Its been a little while since I was last here, and I'm liking it. I've been doing a bunch of experimenting lately, just trying stuff with the different medias. One of these days I'll get my website up... stay tuned!!!

studio

here are some more shots of what I've been doing around the studio. Sorry for the quality, I have yet to find a scanner.

it is frigid up here right now in maine. We had the first day of snow today, which is cool, but also sucky.

Around the Studio

I've been working in the studio up here in the ME the a while. it is my father's, Gene Koch, who is a painter, so its a pretty nice set up. I've carved out a corner in the studio where I do my thing. Here are some pics of what I've been working on.

black watercolor

a buddy of mine told me about using black watercolor to create tone. it works really well I think. Also, I don't have enough money to buy more colors...

watercolor piece

Another watercolor piece about elves and a worm. I like the colors in this one, and its pretty cool the affect that level manipulation(in photoshop) has on the watercolors. I have a "one" underneath because I was thinking maybe this could be the beginning of a story, but it would take me forever to make a comic where every page involved this much time. Still though...

watercolor

I've been goofing around with some watercolor recently. I hate it on it's own, but mixed with line work it has a really nice effect.

yes... more elves. I think I have a problem...

Degree Project Show

The degree project show was last monday. It went really well. A lot of feedback on my story. It was really interesting to see how different people reacted to it. The whole show looked really good. One of the best Ive seen at Massart. Im planning on sending the comic out to various places. If you want to see it in its entirety, i will be posting in on my comic site. sodaspeak.blogspot.com
